Why The Rock Was Hesitant to Marry Wife Lauren Hashian

December 4, 2019

There aren’t many things that intimidate Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, but walking down the aisle again made the former wrestler take pause.

The 47-year-old has revealed his split from first wife Dany Garcia in 2007 initially made him reluctant to marry his longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian.

"My divorce did a number on me," Johnson told WSJ magazine. "I wasn't fearful of getting married again, there was just some hesitancy. But Lauren was incredibly patient: 'I love you, you love me, we have this amazing life together -- no presh.'"

The former wrestler met Hashian while filming “The Game Plan” in 2006 and was instantly smitten.

"Within 30 seconds, I thought, 'Wow, this girl's stunning,'" Johnson recalled upon first laying eyes on his future wife.

"At the time, I was going through my breakup with Dany and she [Hashian] was just coming off a big breakup, too."

The pair started dating in 2007 and Johnson finalized his divorce from his first wife in 2008.

The “Hobbs & Shaw” actor credits his relationship with Hashian to fate.

He added, "Ironically, when you're not looking for something, the power of the universe kind of takes over."

After dating for over a decade, Johnson and Hashian tied the knot this summer in Hawaii. At the time, the newlywed described the intimate ceremony as having “no press, no paparazzi, no noise, nothing lavish or opulent - just us and our family - who all brought with them endless love, support, respect, joy and vibrant mana.”

The couple are parents to daughters Jasmine Lia, 3, and Tiana Gia, 1. Johnson also has an 18-year-old daughter, Simone, from his first marriage.

Being happily married has also made him extra fond of nuptials as Johnson and his fellow “Jumanji: The Next Level” co-star Danny Devito recently crashed a wedding in Mexico.

The duo even broke out into song by serenading the bride and groom with Nat King Cole’s hit “Unforgettable.”

Wrestler, actor, and now wedding singer.  There is nothing The Rock can’t do!
