Vinyl made a comeback years ago, and the format is proving to have staying power. According to Nielsen Music’s year-end report, vinyl now represents 26% of all physical album sales with 18.8 million units sold in 2019. That’s compared to 54.8 million CDs.

Vinyl remains especially popular with the classic rock crowd. The only 2019 album to appear on last year’s vinyl sales chart is Billie Eilish's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? And Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die is the only 2010s album to appear on the end of decade chart. The lone exception is Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1, which is filled with songs from the 60s and 70s.

The top spot on both charts belongs to The Beatles. Their 1969 classic Abbey Road, which got a massive box set reissue last year, sold 246,000 vinyl copies in 2019 and 558,000 vinyl copies in the 2010s.

Other classic rock favorites like Queen, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac dominate the list along with The Beach Boys, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and Miles Davis.
