MTV is bringing back 'Cribs' with a Jenner, a 'Glee' star, and more

We going inside some celebrity homes

October 13, 2020

Okay, we’re gonna keep it one hundred with you, we’re not always down for a reboot. Some things should just be left alone, for example, She’s All That. But when we heard MTV International was planning to bring back the iconic MTV Cribs, we were like, yes please!

The show and it’s concept is in many ways suited for the lockdown lifestyle. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, high-profile stars greet the camera at their front doors and take viewers inside homes, providing intimate tours of various rooms and show off their prized possessions. Getting an intimate tour of beautiful celebrity homes that we could never attain, who’s down?  You can’t see it, but our hand is raised, like super high.

“As we spend more time at home this year, our fascination with where and how others live is growing,” said Craig Orr, Vice President of Original Content and Development for Youth and Entertainment at ViacomCBS Networks International. “’MTV Cribs’ continues to connect our worldwide audiences with their favorite stars as they welcome us into their homes for an exclusive tour. This is pure property porn escapism at its most fabulous.” Like we said, yes please!

The show's global remodel follows the debut of last year’s U.K. adaptation, as well as this summers MTV Cribs: Footballers Stay Home, which was filmed remotely during the global pandemic. Additionally, Snapchat also rebooted the show back in 2017 as a U.S. short-form series.

The OG Cribs first debuted on MTV in 2000 and ran for thirteen seasons. Visiting around 185 homes of celebrities by 2005, including Destiny’s Child, Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey. The show’s return will feature guests including Caitlyn Jenner, former Glee star Kevin McHale, British singer Stefflon Don and Nickelodeon personality and singer JoJo Siwa, who said “I’m pumped to bring MTV fans into the colorful world of JoJo — complete with my most memorable outfits and the slime game room of my dreams.”

In addition, we’ll also get to peep out the lavish digs of The Vamps member Bradley Simpson, RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Alyssa Edwards, British reality star Gemma Collins and Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn, who considered it a “dream to be included in this iconic classic.”

MTV Cribs will debut on the network’s international channels on Oct. 26 at 8PM BST, with a U.S. version premiering early next year.
